Contacting me via e-mail or blog
 |
You can use this page to contact me via e-mail. Due to time constraints, I may not
be able to respond to all e-mails unless they are urgent, however I do read every
message I receive, and I genuinely appreciate all of your comments, as well as the
interest shown in my work. If you need help with BVE, you can find some useful information
below, which you should read prior to contacting me, as you might find the answer
to your question(s).
If you have any queries regarding the openBVE and BVE Trainsim add-ons available
from this site, have any queries about the site itself, wish to seek permission
to use any copyright material available from this site, or just want to say hello,
then please feel free to contact me:

(I will try to reply as quickly as I can, but prompt replies may not always be possible.
If you don't get a reply, please just contact me again, in case I didn't receive
your message or my reply didn't reach you for whatever reason.
You can also post a comment on my blog, provided there's an existing topic related
to your query:

Helpful Information and Common Enquiries
 |
|
openBVE/BVE Trainsim Installation and Help
 |
If you need help with downloading, installing and running BVE, then please visit
my new openBVE Help section, or the
BVE Trainsim Help pages. Using screenshots and easy to follow steps, these
pages explain clearly how you can begin driving my routes, by guiding you through
the downloading and installation of openBVE or BVE Trainsim, followed by instructions
on how my routes should be installed and loaded within either simulator. Here, you
will also find guidance on setting common options within openBVE and BVE, configuring
your graphics card drivers, and also key command summaries.

Notes for New BVE Developers
 |
Unfortunately, I'm often too busy to assist with BVE development and coding. If
you have any enquiries relating to BVE development or require advice on this subject,
please visit one of the forums listed in the "BVE Information" section of my
Links page first.
Robert Glass has written a superb set of help and information
pages in the 'About' section of his superb Scottish Rail Sim Files website. This excellent resource includes
information about common BVE tools which developers and users alike might wish to
use (such as the Track Viewer, Train Editor and Structure Viewer), as well as guidelines
concerning the correct use of bitmap textures within BVE, and also recommendations
on what software to use for developing BVE add-ons. See the 'About' section of Scottish Rail Sim Files.
Have you developed something for BVE, and used work other people's work in your
project, whether they're BVE developers or not, and want to know how to go about
releasing it without stepping on anybody's toes? Read my own widely supported BVE Developer Guidelines which will help
you find out about issues such as copyright and open source, as well as how to be
considerate to the wishes of developers or authors, and treat their work with respect.
This in turn can help you prevent any problems arising from accidental copyright
breaches.

Want to modify my own work, or create a route add-on?
 |
Some of the material available for download from
Rail Sim Routes UK is of de facto public domain status or otherwise
unrestricted, which means that I've done all I can to waive my copyright,
so you can freely modify and redistribute these files without needing to seek my
permission or even credit me. I would still appreciate being acknowledged as the
original author, but it's entirely up to you whether or not you do this.
Downloads containing public domain/unrestricted material will be marked via a BVE
Developer Guidelines "Open Source" banner on the download page.
However, some other material is protected by copyright, usually
because I required permission to use those files myself, or I had to obtain a licence
to use them. For re-use of copyright material, you'll need to contact me via
e-mail. If you re-release copyright material without permission, I'm probably
not going to contact you about it, but the owner of the copyright material may well
do so. Downloads containing copyright material will
have a BVE Developer Guidelines "Copyright Material" banner on
the download page.
Some downloads may contain a mixture of public domain/unrestricted material,
and copyright material. You need to read any documentation
included with the add-on for further details. Downloads containing both kinds of
material may be marked with a BVE Developer Guidelines
"Mixed Content" banner on the download page.
Please note: If you want to re-release any of my public domain/unrestricted
files, or modify my routes, you are more than welcome to do so. However it'll be
up to you to help users with technical support should any problems arise; I can
only offer assistance with the original, unmodified versions of my downloads.
For further details, please see this page.

Linking to Rail Sim Routes UK
 |
You are more than welcome to link to Rail Sim Routes
UK, and you can download a banner here. A link
may be provided back to your site, but this might depend on the quality of the content,
and it's potential relevance to the BVE community.

Other Train Simulators (not openBVE or BVE)
 |
Please note, at this time I'm only dealing with routes for the licence free openBVE, and the freeware BVE Trainsim. I'm unable to assist with enquiries relating
other train simulators. For information and help with other simulators, please visit
one of the forums listed in the "BVE and Railway Forums" section of my
Links page.
